Privacy notice
Last updated 15 September 2026
This notice covers the UrgeQ iPhone app, the instructor booking pages at urgeq.com/i/, and this website. UrgeQ is the data controller for instructor accounts. Where an instructor uses UrgeQ to handle their own pupils’ details, the instructor is the controller and UrgeQ is their processor.
What we collect
- Instructor account. Your email address, so you can sign in. We do not store a password: signing in sends a six-digit code to that address.
- What you set up. Your name, ADI badge number, hourly rate, covered postcodes, test centres, working days, payment details and the rules you write for the assistant to quote.
- Pupil enquiries and bookings. The name, phone number, email address and pickup address a pupil gives when enquiring or booking, the questions they asked, and where they came from, for example a QR code or a social media profile.
- Technical data. Standard server logs from hosting and email delivery. The app contains no advertising or analytics tracking.
Why we collect it, and on what basis
- To run your account and your booking page. Performance of our contract with you.
- To answer a pupil’s question and take their booking. Performance of a contract with the pupil, or steps taken at their request before entering one.
- To send transactional email, such as booking confirmations and the follow-up messages you choose to send. Legitimate interests, being the running of your driving school.
- To keep the service secure and working. Legitimate interests.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of processors, and nothing is sold to anyone:
- Supabase for the database and sign-in, hosted in the United Kingdom and the EEA.
- Vercel for hosting this website and the booking pages.
- Resend for sending email.
- Anthropic for the assistant. The question a pupil asks and the instructor’s published settings are sent so an answer can be generated. Your bank details are never included. Anthropic does not use this content to train models.
Some of these providers process data outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens it is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision.
What the assistant is given
When a pupil asks a question, the assistant is given the instructor’s published settings: rate, areas, test centres, working days, free slots and written rules. It is never given the instructor’s sort code, account number or payment link. Those are shown only to a pupil who has completed a booking.
How long we keep it
- Instructor accounts: while the account is open, then 30 days after you ask us to close it.
- Bookings: six years from the end of the tax year they fall in, because they are business records.
- Enquiries that never became a booking: 12 months.
- Server and email logs: up to 90 days.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it in a portable format. Email privacy@urgeq.com and we will reply within one month.
If you are a pupil and your request concerns a booking with a particular instructor, ask that instructor first, because the details are theirs. If you cannot reach them, contact us and we will help.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
Driving pupils are typically 17 or over. UrgeQ is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
